Overview

Presented by industry experts; a developing professional maintainer will both want and need to understand about their business. How the company makes money, and the part they play in building customer confidence.

This course will start to separate a good technical ‘train fixer’ and develop them into a more rounded leader; making better decisions, managing better investigations, and contributing more to business growth.

Key topics:

1  A brief history of the rail industry, moving from British Rail days, through privatisation and onto NRCs

2. Different types of rail company and the part they play in the collective ‘machine’ that is rail

3 Departments within our company, finance, HR, materials etc. How matrix management works

4 Rail infrastructure, an introduction

5 The regional operations centre, interface and challenges

6 The passenger, how maintenance impacts their experience and how performance is measured

EngPro Approach

This course, as all our workshops are, is delivered onsite at your location. The facilitator is an experienced rail executive that has been promoted through the ranks and is able to relate business importance at the right level.

The workshop is facilitated learning, using real examples from your organisation. There are a few exercises, but in the main the topics are covered in a high-impact fashion with much delegate interaction.

Accreditation: This course counts 8 hours CPD, for Engineering Council UKSPEC competence C.
