Team Leader – Level 3 course

Investigation Skills for Practitioners

CS04

Presented by experienced investigators

A well-developed and presented investigation can save lives and other losses. Sadly all too often investigations are rushed or overly complex.

This course gives the investigator key skills to enable them to conduct an appropriate investigation, from conduct through to complex incidents. We major on the maintenance error investigation as this is the most common type encountered.

KEY TOPICS

Introduction to investigation, types and reason why

Understanding risk

Human performance and the impact on error

Gathering and preserving robust evidence

Interviewing effectively

Logical analysis leading to realistic recommendations

The disciplinary investigation

“This course, together with others provided by Howard and his team are proving invaluable for our business. I particularly like the engagement level and use of real examples that our teams can relate directly with.”

Iain Burnett, Head of Engineering Support Services

Course
delivery

This course can be delivered onsite or online, although we prefer onsite. The delegate is immersed in a number of real-life case studies that they use to develop skills they have learnt.

Using in-class exercises, combined with practical application throughout the two days, culminating in the presentation of investigation recommendations. A highly interactive course that delegates thoroughly enjoy and take much from.

Case studies
EngPro have several standard case studies developed over time covering technical, HSE, and conduct type investigations.
If your group size is reasonably large, we would recommend that we discuss EngPro building a tailored company-specific case study that is naturally more relatable to your staff. Due to the time required to develop the case study we only offer this for higher numbers of courses.

Accreditation
This course counts 16 hours CPD, for Engineering Council UKSPEC competences B, C and D.

Certification
If requested e-Certificates for attendance can be provided.

Examination
This course can have an examination, if that is required.

Supporting materials
Life-long access to our extensive delegate resource centre; all materials for the training delivery; all in-class exercises; further reading advice.

None – the price we will quote is inclusive of reasonable UK travel and subsistence, any associated registration fees, exam setting and moderation.
