Background
Mark is an experienced rail professional with over 10 years in leadership roles across multiple Train Operating Companies. Delivering high‑performing teams and operational excellence in complex, safety‑critical environments. He has led diverse functions, driven performance improvements, and built strong cross‑functional relationships that support reliable, customer‑focused rail services.
Before entering the rail industry, Mark served for more than 15 years in the Royal Air Force, whilst serving in the UK and overseas he developed a strong foundation in leadership, discipline and team cohesion. His military background continues to shape his approach to problem‑solving, resilience, and leading people through change.
Expertise
Mark brings to you strong leadership development capability having held a variety of leadership roles in rail maintenance. He relates to depot leadership teams and gives sound and sensible ideas and advice having held posts of Shift Manager, Production Manager, Senior Production Manager and Depot Management. Mark understands the shop floor and how to get the best from this engineering team. Mark brings to all clients his expertise in people management, service delivery, safety culture, stakeholder engagement, and organisational leadership.
The area you will likely see him is delivering our maintenance management and leadership courses, where his vast rail experience in different grades adds such richness to the delivery.
At work & play
Mark is a keen sportsman and is fanatical about rugby, both coaching youth and playing ‘veterans’ rugby at his local club. Mark is an avid Bath Rugby supporter and tries to return to the west country to watch home games when possible.
He enjoys staying active and has competed in a number of Hyrox and Hybrid games. He takes pleasure in contributing to his local sporting community, and spending quality time with his young family. When not challenging himself physically he enjoys travelling and good food.
